Newsletter 6th November 2009

Dear Parent/Carer

Staff Training Days

These will take place on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th November.  School resumes on Wednesday 11th November at 9.15am.

Parent Teacher Consultations

These will take place on the evening of Thursday 12th November 2009.  Time slots have been sent home.  Please advise the school if you need to change your time.

Glow Meet

Primary 4-7 participated in the school’s first Glow Meet with several other schools in Stirling Council.  The pupils were interviewing a World War 2 veteran called Lewis Hynd, linked to their current topic.  The pupils thought the Meet was very good, and enjoyed working with other children.

Ragbag

A reminder that the Ragbag collection will take place from the school on Wednesday 11th November.  Please therefore bring your unwanted textiles to the school on the morning of the 11th and they will be uplifted later in the day.  Thank you again for your support!

Open Morning for World War 2

Primary 4-7 will be holding an open morning on Wednesday 25th November from 11.15am till 12.15pm.  This will give parents a chance to view the work the pupils have done on their WW2 projects, and share in some of the learning with the pupils. Rationing shouldn’t affect the hospitality!

Christmas Fayre

This will take place at the school on Saturday 28th November from 10.30am till 12.30pm.  We still need people to make mince pies, bring home-baking and donations for the bottle stall, and volunteers to help set up, serve and tidy up.  Please let the school know if you are able to help in any capacity.  We are also asking families to make Jumble Jars at home.  Any size of jar with a screw top lid is suitable.  This should be filled with any items that would fit inside the jar, e.g. sweets, marbles, toys, colouring pencils etc.  The jar should then be decorated in a Christmas theme. The Jumble Jars are always a popular stall at the Fayre.  Entrance to the Fayre will be £2 per adult, which will cover tea/coffee and mince pies.  Children have free entry as they will be singing some carols to put you in a festive mood!  Please invite along family members and friends to what will be a morning of fun!

Science Presentation

Primaries 5 and 6 will be travelling to Balfron High School on Thursday 12th November to attend a presentation entitled ‘Journey to the Centre of your Lunch’ by The Royal Society of Chemistry, to celebrate the sciences in learning.

Remember Remember- school photographs on Tuesday 17th November!
